Parkwyn Village in Kalamazoo, Michigan is one of only three successful Frank Lloyd Wright-designed cooperative housing projects in the United States. Established in 1947, Parkwyn Village celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2022. For the celebration, Parkwyn’s current and former residents were invited to share their memories and photographs of Parkwyn’s earliest years. This 52-page book is the product of that effort.
The book contains personal recollections of life in the 1950’s and 1960’s (and later) by eighteen contributors, members of Parkwyn’s founding families and earliest residents. Included are 43 photographs, most in color, from the period depicting everyday activities and events in the lives of Parkwyn villagers. The stories and accounts in the book provide a warm and nostalgic look back on growing up and living in a unique community some 75 years ago.
