This book is the catalog to accompany an exhibition at New York’s Museum of Modern Art on the occasion of Wright’s 150th birthday. A few years before the exhibition opened, the Wright Archives were transferred from Taliesin West to Columbia University’s Avery Library. The exhibition at MOMA was presented as an “unpacking” of the archives, that is, leading examples of Wright’s drawings and plans are used to illustrate several scholarly essays on selected Wright projects, such Tokyo’s Imperial Hotel, American System-Built Houses, Nakoma Country Club, Midway Gardens, the Rosenwald School, and The Acres in Galesburg, Michigan. The book contains many color illustrations rarely seen elsewhere.
