Description
This previously obscure catalogue issued by Gustav Stickley provides insights into the extended range of textiles and other “soft goods” that he offered for sale as accessories to his furniture. In this book, Stickley provides descriptions and his recommendations for use of his fabrics as portieres, window curtains, upholstery, table scarfs, and centerpieces. His call for the arrangement of color, form, and texture in the selection of furniture and accompanying accessories, based on the principle of maintaining a complementary foreground-background relationship, anticipated what many Arts and Crafts collectors are now seeking – a sensitivity to and a sensibility about harmonious integration of all elements in one’s living space.
