This book undertakes the gargantuan task of collecting and identifying the hundreds of shopmarks of (mostly) American makers of Arts & Crafts furniture, pottery and tiles, leatherwork, lighting and metalware. The book includes over 1200 such shopmarks and includes a brief description and the author’s evaluation of the quality of each firm’s work. Who knew there were so many shopmarks? If your piece of mission furniture has a label on it, the chances are that it is pictured in this book. The book contains other useful information, such as websites that are maintained by other individuals and groups who share their information on various Arts & Crafts makers and, for Roycroft and art pottery collectors, an appendix listing the individual decorator marks that allows identification of the specific craftsman who made or decorated the piece.
